APN Outdoor wins Auckland Airport
AUCKLAND: Auckland International Airport (AIA) announces today that leading Outdoor company, APN Outdoor, has won the international airport’s advertising concession. Auckland Airport will join APN Outdoor’s existing Airport portfolio with the recently redeveloped Christchurch Airport.
APN Outdoor has worked vigorously to secure this lucrative contract because it saw the fantastic competitive edge it delivers to advertisers who are looking to connect with the affluent and often elusive airport audience.
The new media partnership between AIA and APN Outdoor covers both the international and domestic terminals. Over 14 million passengers travel through Auckland Airport annually and when this figure is combined with the ‘meeters & greeters’ and staff that pass through the airport each year, it equates to over 35 million airport district visits each year.
The Auckland Airport services both the local Auckland area and greater New Zealand too. 90% of Aucklanders visit Auckland Airport at least once in a 12 month period and 74% of all visitors coming to New Zealand come through Auckland Airport.
Richard Barker, Auckland Airport General Manager of Retail and Commercial, says the tender process saw a number of strong offers received but that APN Outdoor proved to be the best fit with Auckland Airport.
Barker said; “APN Outdoor offered a winning combination of experience, fresh ideas and a commitment to developing new advertising that will be distinctively Auckland Airport.”
Richard Herring, APN Outdoor Chief Executive Officer, commented; “Auckland Airport is world class, it’s New Zealand’s busiest airport and the gateway to New Zealand for the millions of international travellers who come through it each year. With the country’s second busiest airport, Christchurch International Airport, already in our portfolio, we wanted to go from strength to strength with our Airport offering. Auckland Airport gives our clients the opportunity to connect their brand with target audiences in an award winning luxury environment.”
APN Outdoor will begin the AIA contract November 1st, 2014.
